Dig deeper into the digNubia documentary

Documentary Synopsis

This 26-minute documentary examines the scientific processes and technological advances enabling archeologists, historians, and scientists to make new and exciting discoveries about the ancient civilization of Nubia, also known as Kush. This kingdom existed intact between 750 BCE (BC) through 350 CE (AD) and includes a rich legacy of the Nile Valley. This is a story of unfolding evidence revealing some of the history of the Kingdom of Kush and the processes of observation and interpretation underway to interpret and determine this ancient culture and people. The film presents the history and significance of Kush through the eyes of modern day explorers:, including American and European archaeologists and scholars, contemporary Sudanese people, and an African American teacher and student. Following current day archaeological excavations in the northern Sudan, the film examines ongoing research into the history of ancient Nubia. Throughout the documentary, the film examines the question, "How do we know what we know?"
