In the laboratory you tried out some of the tasks that archaeologists perform and some of the thought processes they use to do so. In sorting the pottery sherds, you could use visual clues to make decisions about which pieces belong together, then use your visualization skills to try to piece together the sherds into a complete vessel. In the Telling Time activity, you explored some of the methods that archaeologists can use to put their finds in chronological order. These methods include both comparisons to features found at known times in history, as well as scientific techniques like Carbon-14 (radiocarbon) dating. Also in the laboratory, you could more closely examine some of the artifacts found in the tomb and record your observations in a form similar to the one used by archaeologists.
